Inspire change through your lens! International Photo Competition

641

The CIDSE Campaign “Change for the Planet – Care for the People” invites you to participate in its first international photo competition. This initiative seeks to capture the imagination and creativity of photography enthusiasts – both professional and amateur – keen to share their special take on citizen-led initiatives around the sustainable production and consumption of food and energy around the world.

In a creative way, the project wishes to capture people-led initiatives in the sustainable consumption and production of food and energy and encourage people to discover new and more sustainable ways of living. It aims to engage citizens around the world in sharing existing examples from their communities, and, in so doing, allowing these initiatives to resonate and inspire others to change.

It challenges participants to capture their own perspectives or experiences on sustainable, citizen-led initiatives around food or energy.

The photo competition opened 1 February 2017 and will close on 23 April 2017. Participation is free and open to any person 18 years old and above, with categories for amateurs and for professionals. Those interested are asked to submit one photograph entry that reflects the competition’s title, “Inspire change through your lens. Show that the world is full of sustainable alternatives in food and energy!”

The photo competition is held within the framework of CIDSE’s Joint Action Campaign Change for the Planet – Care for the People, a global campaign that calls for a radical change in people’s lifestyles towards living simply, highly inspired by our work on promoting Laudato SI’ messages.

The campaign builds on the work CIDSE carries out with its member organizations towards social justice, doing so by promoting sustainable ways of living. The global over-exploitation of natural resources puts people and planet at risk- and it starts with vulnerable people living in poverty.

As of November 2015, the International Federation of Rural Adult Catholic Movements (FIMARC), the Jesuit European Social Centre (JESC) and Caritas Europa joined the campaign as partners. In addition, since April 2016, the International Federation of Catholic Parochial Youth Movements (FIMCAP) became a partner of the campaign.
