Panel Debate: “Rediscovering the European Common Good”

715

On 6 November, JESC and the Chapel for Europe will host a panel debate on “Rediscovering the European Common Good”, a document drafted by the “Passion for Europe”-group. This group, consisting of a wide array of Catholics from seven different nationalities, is coordinated by JESC in Brussels, and “Rediscovering the European Common Good” was produced by it through common discussion and reflection.

Starting from Pope Francis’ speech at the Conferral of the Charlemagne Prize in 2016, the members of the group find hope in reviving the vision of the founding fathers, rooted in the Church’s social thought and in the social dimension of Christian anthropology.

As the keynote speaker on 6 November, Mr. Herman Van Rompuy, President Emeritus of the European Council, will give his thoughts and comments on this document and partake further in the panel discussion.
