As we celebrate this year’s Season of Creation, the European Laudato Si’ Alliance (ELSiA) invites you to participate at the online webinar on the EU “Fit for 55” package. The event will take place on Thursday 8 September 2022 at 3-4 PM CEST with the participation of Dr. Gregor Erbach, head of the Climate Action and Tracking Service of the European Parliament Research Service.

First presented in 2021, the EU “Fit for 55” package is a legislative proposal of 13 interlinked measures aimed at allowing the EU to accomplish EU Green Deal goals and climate neutrality by 2050 starting with reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030. The European Parliament and the Council adopted their positions on the “Fit for 55” policy package during the first half of 2022. Currently, all co-legislators (the EU Commission, Parliament and the Council) are in the process of discussing its final content under the EU trialogue system of consensus. The topics discussed include, among others, social and climate funds, effort sharing regulations, land use, and forestry regulations.

During this Zoom meeting, Dr. Gregor Erbach will present key features of this initiative and answer questions from the audience moderated by Stefan Lunte, Secretary General of Justice and Peace Europe.
