JESC’s Secretary for European Affairs, Martin Maier, wrote an article for the journal of The Macau Ricci Institute. The purpose of this paper is to serve as a memorial to the Jesuit martyrs of El Salvador, murdered on the evening of 15 November 1989 by members of the El Salvadoran army at the University of Central America in El Salvador. The priests were assassinated because they spoke out against the government and were advocates for the marginalized and poor. The article is available in English and Chinese.
