ELSiA (European Laudato Si Alliance) has released a statement coinciding with the conclusion of COP28.

Driven by Pope Francis’ call for action, Catholic actors at COP28 pushed for solutions that uphold human dignity, environmental justice, and equitable action against climate change. While applauding the acknowledgement of a fossil fuel phase-out and the creation of a Loss & Damage fund, there are some concerns about the lack of a binding emissions reduction plan and over-reliance on unproven technologies.

In its statement ELSiA members urge European leaders to embrace integral ecology, act decisively, and champion ecological causes.
