The European Commission has recently run a public consultation to support its preparatory work for the upcoming 7-year EU budget (officially known as MFF – Multiannual Financial Framework). JESC contributed to this discussion with a list of principles, primarily focusing on the Common Agricultural Policy. Agriculture not only provides food, but it is also the most important European policy area regarding the planetary crisis, while absorbing one-third of the EU’s overall budget. The new 7-year budget must therefore address it accordingly, while also providing substantial assistance to those who have to bear the economic burden of the necessary changes.
